Welcome to the sunshine state! I grew up elsewhere and dealt with a Winter and Fall filled with snow.  I always thought, as a kid, that pools were a mistake because you could only use them for 2 months and then they just took up space.  But, then I moved to paradise and got my own pool in my own private lanai! There is no easier way to entertain kids, adults and even certain pets than to have a backyard pool.  One that can literally, be used 12 months out of the year. Welcome to Florida. I have been a pelican fan since moving to the sunshine state nearly 20 years ago.  I also like the Spoonbills, Egrets and variety of water fowl - and don't get me started on the Black Bellied Whistling Duck.  But, by far my favorite is the Sandhill Crane.  There is actually one guy that lives behind our home and has been injured.  The injury has impaired his mobility but he still gets around, has a girlfriend and get's plenty to eat. Not every single homes is brown with palm trees in the back yard on the Suncoast.  Sometimes the homes are Miami Pink or Green, the trees are oaks and the the neighborhood was developed in the 1920s. There are some small neighborhoods that are truly affordable and considered "REAL BARGAINS" by many of us in Florida Real Estate.  The old axiom about location is true.  My favorite undiscovered spot in this part of Florida is Nokomis. Welcome to Florida. There is a lot of golf in Florida.  I mean, a lot!  I'm most familiar with the clubs on the Suncoast.  One of the clubs I actually toured when I first came here was Heritage Oaks - which I love.  The course is integrated with the lakes and bridges and the condos are beautiful.  Also,  the deer are EVERYWHERE.  I guess the gold standard is The Oaks in Osprey.  Even if it's not an option for you, a tour is a good way to spend an afternoon.  We belong to Stoneybrook, Heritage Oaks and TPC Prestancia.  There really is a separate vibe at each club and to determine which is right for you, you probably have to test drive a few.  Or ask me - I have opinions (sometimes too many).      One of the holes in our neighborhood.....  © John Gaudiano Some Great Video Tours
