Should I join a Club when I move to Florida?
Welcome to Florida.
When I was a kid I remember some clubs being around but never being impressed by them. I actually thought they were mostly for people in the neighborhood from the old country who were trying to make friends in their new country.
Then I moved to Florida.
In 2013 my wife and I purchased an investment property in a golf community and were required to join the country club. Long story short, I run the bingo nights and my wife's team is undefeated in trivia. This made me realize that we did need to join a club because our "Old Country" was "Up North" and we didn't know many people here.
Our son is a superstar at our club and we've lost count of the fun events and relaxed happy hours we have had. So I guess the short answer is that you don't have to join a club but, if you're new to the area and want to meet some people there are worse ways to do it...
