Welcome to Paradise. I have been lucky (cursed) enough to live in several places in the US, as well as abroad.  I am almost always surprised by how similar people are wherever you go....  Fathers and mothers want their children to thrive and be safe, political leaders want safety and security and, everyone, wants a better life, especially for their children.  It's almost universal. The best schools, the best medical care and always.....the best neighborhoods.  I was always impressed growing up with where my friend Rose lived.  I could tell it was a better area and her house had four pillars!!  Impressive. In Florida it is totally different, I know people who live on the beach, on a golf course at a marina as well as horse farms.  People here seem calmer and maybe less "judgey".  If you are happy you have won at the game of life.  That's what we want for our son.  We want him to be more like John Adams, concerned with justice and his neighbors and not too worried

Welcome to paradise. As a kid, I only went to the local country club in the dead of winter, to sled.  At the time, I wondered what it looked like in the summer and just couldn't picture it.  I went once to play in Truro, Massachusetts and was way more interested in the cliffs by the ocean and thought walking around the shrub strewn fairways was terribly boring.  I never could imagine living on a golf course and then something happened.... Our son was born. Sure, having a nice small Florida sized yard was fine with no kids but the idea that our very active toddler would be happy with a 1,500sf patch of grass didn't make sense.  Couple that with a desire to be near the ocean and suddenly the cost for a large house with a big yard soon became unaffordable.  Very unaffordable. Then we considered a golf community.  Close to the beach and now we have a 550 Acre backyard that someone else mows for us!  We spend time at the restaurant, playing soccer in the out of bounds areas
