Why Should I Get a Boat?

Image
Welcome to paradise. In my youth I had the chance to go boating in the summer and loved being on the water.  I thought I was taking some cool nautical lessons but, unfortunately, it turned out I was being prepped for below minimum wage work at a boat rental facility on cape cod.  As you might imagine a below minimum wage job in conditions that can become extremely hazardous based on weather can tun you off boating.  For a decade. Or two. Of course, as I have said before everything is better in Florida.  Warm ocean water, a safe boating culture and about a million places to have fun, only start the list.   Things can change fast for a young family but, right now our favorite boating experience is tubing with friends. There's something about having high speed fun, with great people off the back of a boat with the potential of a dolphin sighting that just seems magical.    Sarasota Bay My Website

Is Building a House like a Circus?

Image
Welcome to Paradise. This summer our son attended the greatest camp you can imagine, for a little kid.  He literally got to run away with the circus (but come home every night) and learn to perform with a team, in an act.  He's still talking about it and we now do our own routines at home.  But, seeing he and his act partners perform got me thinking, about how similar it is to building a house. Really. Some people get excited about the day they move in when everything is completed perfectly and life starts at this new chapter.  But I'm not that way, I like the part halfway through, when it looks like you are about to pull something amazing off and everybody is working together towards the same goal.  That's the part; the team and the friends, I remember that most from my life and I hope it's the same for Rocky....     However, just in case you are reading this and you want to know the end and make sure no one fell and that (metaphorically) this construction j

Am I Storm Ready?

Image
Welcome to Paradise. We made it through another storm that was supposed to be the strongest in history and be a direct hit.  I think that's always the forecast but, I could be wrong.  During my first hurricane in the state the news anchor on our local TV station was telling everyone to get into their "safe room" because destruction was imminent.  I went onto my balcony and made myself a drink instead.  Solid decision. My power didn't even blink.  Now we live in a concrete home with impact windows so don't even consider evacuating or hiding in a special room.  We do figure that if power is going to be out for more than a day we'll find an air conditioned hotel room and chill out.    Actual cone of a storm that missed the entire state of Florida.
