Where Is Manasota Key?

Welcome to the Suncoast. Newbies always ask me about Siesta Key.  We love it there but, the first time we brought our son to the ocean it was in Nokomis.  That's our family's default beach, it's not commercial, is unspoiled and has great parking.  But it's not for everybody. Just like living on Siesta Key, Lido Key isn't everyone's cup of tea.  For those looking for (relatively) inexpensive waterfront and solitude - I recommend Manasota Key.  It's just south of Casey Key in Englewood, Florida. It's not as popular, but that's why many residents love it.  If you are looking for a beautiful drive or place to boat - Manasota Key is a solid recommendation.   Home For Sale on Manasota Key © John Gaudiano Our Website

What Is The Best Looking Condo in SRQ?

Welcome to Sarasota. Occasionally, buyers will want to live in a particular building because of the way it looks.  Mostly people want to discuss lifestyle issues like amenities or proximity to the beach but, there are some folks that like the exterior of a building and that's it for them. I'm not saying I agree with these people; but, if I did...... © John Gaudiano My Website

What Is The Best Worst Real Estate Mistake in Sarasota?

Welcome to the Suncoast. In business school we all learned about Levi Straus and his plans to make tents for gold rush adventurers in California.  Of course, that plan flopped and Levi had a bunch of extra denim he needed to get rid of so.....  Well, you probably know the rest of the story. Here in Sarasota, technology at the time suggested that shaded brackish canals would be dug around Lido Key to try to control mosquitoes.  The plan didn't work but today there are several shallow, tree lined canals just a short paddle from the city and now they are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.  If you haven't been down one yet, please put it on your list. © John Gaudiano My Website

What The Heck is a Slough?

Welcome to Florida! Since coming to Florida I have probably sold an uncountable number of waterfront properties, and my wife and I actually "own" a submerged land lease from the state where we keep our boat.  I currently have two listings on different creeks and one ICW listing but, occasionally I get to sell a property on a Slough ("slew"). The definition of a slough usually sounds like a swamp or pond but, in North Port it's a huge canal that leads to the ocean and a great place to power boat - in Bradenton, Rattle Snake Slough is some of the prettiest land in the state - so if you are in the market for some waterfront property in Florida, you and I should discuss Sloughs - and boating and rattlesnakes.  (But maybe not in that order) Big Slough, North Port © John Gaudiano Slew Properties Search
