Should I Move to Florida?

Welcome to Paradise, or, if you are reading this at a location where the ownership of a snow shovel makes sense, see you soon.

Before I moved to Florida full time, I loved to visit theme parks in the winter and enjoy the good weather.  I had literally never visited a beach in the entire state because, let's face it, everyone told me Florida was too hot int he Summer and I could never live there.  I laugh at this belief set now because, I watch the temperatures in Chicago and Boston in July and August now and realize it is often cooler here in the Summertime.

So without further ado, let's go through my top 5 reasons to leave the state you are in and move to paradise.

1. WEATHER  This will always be number one!  Today it is a cold snap in January so we started the day at 54 degrees and things will top out at 70 this afternoon.  Perfect.  In Rockford Il, for example, there are snow storms starting in November, and record high temperature is 112 degrees.  No thanks.

2. ACTIVITIES.  Although it goes along with weather, theme parks, beaches, NASA, golf, boating and nature top the list of fun activities you can do here YEAR ROUND!!  Seriously.

3. OCEAN TEMP. The warmest ocean temp I had ever swum in prior to moving here was 74 degrees on Cape Cod after a hurricane. I have experienced that same temperature here in December but really look forward to the Spring and Summer when the water warms to the 80s and stays that way through the Fall.

4. HOUSING.  There are tremendous bargains to this day in Florida and because the state is close to sea level most neighborhoods have lakes, meaning the majority of homes are waterfront.  Lovely.

5. TAXES.  Although many folks make this their number one reason to relocate to our state, having zero state income tax is more of a huge added benefit that some people don't even realize until they live here for a year!!!  But with Californians looking at a potential 17% tax, that means a family making $150,000 could add over $25,000 to their bottom line the day the move here.  Yeah, that's a big reason, for sure.

So yeah, give us a call when you're ready, we'll be here....
